Hello

Hi! My name is Amelia Mitchell and I am a director.  Filmmaking is a vehicle for me to create stories with cultural, environmental and social depth and relevance.  I have been creating live action short films for several years and am ready to take my up and coming career to another level with my future projects.  I will continue to create stories that uplift underrepresented stories, that educate, and that ignite the viewer's imaginative eye to see beyond the ordinary.  My mission as a filmmaker and human being is to reconnect people with themselves, others and the world.

I have been writing and directing my own short films outside of school for six years. The first two years I studied by myself and the other four of those years I was taught how to analyze, create stories and sophisticated visuals by my teachers at school. Utilizing these teachings, I have been working on a series which has four seasons thus far. I was a 1st AD and co-cinematographer for my mothers documentary. I joined several extracurriculars that allowed me to help my peers in school. I was a part of my school's student government and have been a representative of my grade for two years. Alongside this I was a student ambassador at my school and was a mentor for first year students by guiding them through their first year of high school. I have been a part of Alliance Youth Ambassadors for four years outside of school and I help advocate for students of color in predominantly white private schools. I am a current leader of my school’s black student union. I have gained my scuba diving license during a volunteer science expedition in Fiji with my honors biology class where we spent two weeks gathering data to preserve one of Fiji’s forests and Fiji’s Natewa bay.

Pacifica’s Cultural Appreciation Event
Free Lance/School related event 2021

I have created my high school’s first annual cultural awareness event called Pacifica’s Cultural Appreciation Festival. The event I created, PCAF, is an artistic performance based event that celebrates the participants' cultural heritage. All the participants were student volunteers who created and performed their own songs, poems, and more to celebrate cultural diversity in relation to the arts. I worked on producing this event for two years alongside one of my school’s teacher’s, Mr. Sims, before it finally was able to happen on campus during May 2021. There were games and food trucks outside prior to the event. The entire audience was socially distanced as well.

Indie Roller Skating Documentary
My Mother’s Documentary 2021

I was an Assistant Director and Co-cinematographer on a documentary, in the works, about women in roller skating and how skating has changed their lives. A film about female empowerment by Goldilocks Productions. Shot with them in L.A and in different parts of England.
